Sealing of goods is an effective way to ensure their safety during transportation. When dealing with sealed cargo, you can be sure that the packaging has not been opened during storage and transportation, and its contents have not been damaged or stolen. If a violation has occurred, this fact will be discovered in time, and not after transmission to the recipient. It is most important to seal valuable cargo.
Sealing not only ensures the safety of goods, but also speeds up their processing, customs control and eliminates confusion.
All container doors, hatches and tank drain holes are subject to sealing. Canvas bodies are allowed to be sealed only if penetration through the side is completely excluded.
Types of sealing devices:
- Power, used to restrict access to cargo, contain blocking devices.
- Indicating devices made of plastic and metalare designed to monitor the opening of cargo.
- Numbered adhesive sealsmade of paper or tape, which will show if the box or container has been opened.
- Impact indicators, which record the moments of an impact, a coup, or a fall.
- Temperature indicatorsthat indicate temperature violations.
Electronic seals are also being developed, equipped with a navigation system and capable of signaling an opening.
Rules for sealing cargo
- Sealing of cargo during transportation is carried out by the shipper upon completion of loading.
- The seal must contain a unique number, the name of the owner and other necessary control marks. Information about them is indicated in the invoice.
- Seals are placed so that access to the cargo without damaging them is impossible.
- Each seal is necessarily checked for integrity and legibility of the marking. If violations are detected, the seal must be replaced, otherwise the cargo is not allowed for transportation.
- If the shipment is individually sealed using paper tape, each joint of the packaging material must be stamped by the shipper.
