Customs declaration is a document necessary to complete the customs clearance procedure and contains information about the goods being transported. The customs declaration and its types, as well as the deadlines for filing, are reflected in the customs legislation of the Russian Federation. Thus, when importing goods, it must be submitted during the period until the temporary storage period for the goods has expired. Currently it is two months and can be extended for the same period. If we are talking about the export of goods, then the declaration is submitted before their actual departure from the territory of the country.
There is a possibility of preliminary declaration of goods before their arrival on the territory of the Russian Federation. After acceptance of the documents, the goods must be presented to the customs authority within 15 days. In addition, the legislation provides for periodic declaration of goods transported by one legal entity for a certain time, which can be carried out once for all shipments.
Types of customs declarations
Customs declarations, the types and purpose of which depend on which person is participating in the customs procedure, as well as whether his route is transit, are issued in electronic form.

Types of customs declarations according to the EAEU Customs Code
There are four types of declarations in the register of the Customs Code of the Eurasian Economic Union:
- Declaration of goods. Filled out by an entrepreneur or company representative for transported goods for commercial use. Includes data about the sender and recipient, transport and route, comprehensive information about the product, its manufacturer, packaging, HS codes, data on the transaction and the amount of customs duties. If the product requires permitting documentation (certificates, declarations of conformity, state registration, etc.), they must also be indicated. This document must be submitted electronically.
- Passenger Declaration is filled out by an individual when transporting goods for personal use that are subject to mandatory declaration when crossing the state border. Filled out in duplicate with precise information about the goods being transported. If these goods do not require the collection of duties, they can be declared orally.
- Transit Declaration is filled out for cargo that transits through the territory of the Customs Union. It indicates information about the carrier, sender and recipient, as well as other necessary information about the transported cargo, vehicle and planned route points.
- Declaration for the vehicle. When registering it, the main documents that the carrier must have are presented — data on the route, cargo and purpose of the vehicle.

The specified types of declarations involved in customs logistics as the main documents for crossing the borders of the Customs Union must be executed in accordance with all legal requirements. Even the slightest deviation from the norm, in particular in the area of determining the Commodity Nomenclature of Foreign Economic Activity, can lead to problems during customs clearance. Therefore, to prepare a declaration for goods, it is easier to contact specialists who have knowledge of all the nuances of this process.
