Liability for Violating Import Rules
Violating the rules for importing alcoholic beverages entails serious liability. This may be either an administrative penalty in the form of fines or criminal liability for major violations.
Illegal import of alcohol may result in confiscation of the goods and revocation of the license to carry out foreign trade activities. Therefore, it is extremely important to comply with all established rules and regulations.
Rules for private import of alcohol
For individuals, there are the following restrictions on the import of alcohol:
- It is allowed to import no more than 3 liters of alcoholic beverages per person over 18 years of age without paying duty. Exceeding this volume requires declaration and payment of customs duties.
- When importing from 3 to 5 liters, you must pay a customs duty of 10 euros for each liter in excess of the norm. Import of more than 5 liters of alcohol by individuals is prohibited.
- Alcoholic products must be intended for personal use, and not for commercial purposes.
